How to Find the Right Influencers for Your Wellness Brand (Without Wasting Months)

Every studio owner we talk to has tried influencer marketing at least once — a few DMs, a free class in exchange for a post, maybe a paid collab that didn't convert into a single new client. The problem usually isn't influencer marketing itself. It's that most wellness brands are picking creators based on follower count instead of fit.

A creator with 200,000 followers and no real connection to movement, wellness, or your specific niche will get you likes, not bookings. A creator with 8,000 followers who's genuinely into Pilates, who talks to an audience that actually lives near your studio or shops for the kind of supplements you sell, will outperform them every time.

Here's what actually matters when you're choosing who to work with: does their audience overlap with the people who'd realistically walk into your studio or buy your product? Do they already talk about topics adjacent to yours — movement, recovery, nutrition, slow living — in a way that feels authentic rather than performative? And when they've done brand partnerships before, did it look like an ad, or did it look like something their followers actually engaged with?

The vetting part is the part most brands skip, and it's the part that makes or breaks the result. It means actually reading comments, not just scrolling past the follower count. It means checking whether past sponsored posts got real engagement or just got posted and forgotten. It means having a conversation with the creator before anything is signed, so you know they actually understand what you do.

None of this needs to take months. It just needs to not be an afterthought squeezed in between everything else running your business. That's usually where we come in — not because studio owners can't do this themselves, but because most don't have six spare hours a week to do it well.
